Catheter and Stoma Care
A half day course giving the basic information required by a care worker prior to assisting service users. Course attendees will be able to see and handle the equipment, catheters, bags etc. A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the course.

All carers who are involved with catheter and/or
stomas as part of their job role.

Half day

The course will comprise of;
Basic anatomy of the bladder and bowel
What is a catheter?
Different types of catheterisation
Reasons for and methods of stoma formation
Infection control methods
Advice to give service users
All candidates will be given the opportunity to see
and handle all equipment that they are likely to
encounter.

Assessment of gained knowledge is by
observation of practical tasks and multiple choice
questions.

All candidates will be issued with a Certificate of
Attendance on completion of the course..
